A free ebook reader that opens and manages books stored on your device. It supports a variety of ebook formats such as ePub (including main features of ePub3), Kindle azw3 (also known as mobi), fb2(.zip), RTF, doc (MS Word), HTML, and plain text. Additionally, it has a free plugin to support DjVu books.
For opening PDFs and comics, there is an option to install a free plugin or purchase the FBReader Premium version. With the premium version, you pay once and gain access to all premium features forever.
This reading app works offline, so a network connection is not required. However, when your device is online, you can explore various ebook catalogs that offer both free and paid books. It includes popular libraries in English, French, Russian, and Polish languages. You can also add custom OPDS catalogs or manually download books and save them on your device.
FBReader provides the option to synchronize your library, bookmarks, and reading positions using the Book Network, which is a cloud service based on Google Drive™. This feature is disabled by default but can be enabled and configured through the preferences dialog.
The app has integrated support for external dictionaries such as Dictan, ColorDict, Fora Dictionary, FreeDictionary.org, and LEO dictionary. The Premium edition even includes built-in integration with Google Translate.
FBReader offers fast performance and high customizability. You can use external TrueType/OpenType fonts, apply custom backgrounds, adjust screen brightness while reading (by sliding your finger up or down along the left screen edge), and choose from different day/night color schemes.
